    Best Summer Getaways for Kids

You can’t beat an Aussie summer for creating lifelong memories, whether your family are all about the beach, camping or hitting the theme parks. The summer school break is the perfect time to get together as a family and enjoy all the things our wide brown land has to offer. Let’s check out the fun adventures for your family and your budget.

    Beachside Bliss

Australia is renowned for its stunning beaches, and as 80% of Aussies live within an hour of the coast line it would be a crazy not to take advantage. Whether it's the iconic Bondi Beach in Sydney, the pristine Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays, or down Victoria’s Great Ocean road, there's a beach for every family. For a great stay on a budget, there are 180 Big 4 caravan parks all around Australia coast, with great caravan sites and great amenities as well as cabins for those who don’t like sharing a bathroom. Beach holidays are perfect for kids as the kids are kept busy with outdoor activities like swimming and surfing, even just building sandcastles while you picnic on the sand. It is a great option for a laid-back recharge.

    Bush Adventures

For those families who like a little more adventure in their time off, camping might be more up your alley. Australia's diverse range of National parks like the Blue Mountains in New South Wales or the Great Otway National Park in Victoria offer the ultimate in outdoor action. Once the tents are up it is time for bushwalking, enjoying nature and finding hidden waterfalls. Being out and about in bushland allows your family the opportunity to get close up and personal with a lot of the amazing flora and fauna you don’t see in the city. Kangaroos, koalas and parrots galore will bring joy to your kids faces. In the evenings nothing beats a chat around an open fire, maybe even roast a few marshmallows or make up some damper to add to the fun. It is also one of the least expensive options once you  have your camping kit and your kids will love it.

    City Escapades

Like your holidays with a little more organised activity? Australia's vibrant cities are not to be overlooked, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane all host a myriad of family-friendly events and activities. The theme parks on the Gold Coast are a highlight for every child, warning though as a parent it is more exhausting than how you will remember it from your own childhood. For those travelling further south, there are art exhibitions, music festivals and interactive museums, with something for every age group. Though many of these events cost money there are also free options like taking a stroll through the Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney, the Melbourne Docklands Christmas Maze, or the man-made beach on Brisbane's South Bank. The beauty of staying close to home is that these urban adventures can be day trips, giving you and the kids all the comforts of home to return too, also less packing.

Whichever option you go with, make sure you take plenty of photos, you will want to look back on these moments in the sun (especially when winter hits). As long as you are with the people you love and taking it easy everyday can be a beautiful memory. Remember, these are the holidays your children will want to recreate one day with their own kids, so have fun out there.
