6 Parenting hacks that will save you time and stress!
The daily running of a family is no mean feat. Getting children off to school and keeping the house (relatively) tidy is hard enough, add to that sports days and play dates, all while ensuring everyone is eating well and brushing their teeth occasionally and it can be…..challenging. Here are a few clever tricks to simplify your daily routine and make your everyday experience more organised (and less like herding cats).
Designate one spot in the house for calendars, schedules, and important information. A combination whiteboard/corkboard is perfect for keeping track of appointments, activities, and to-do lists for each family member.
Kids love to race the clock, it turns any chore into a game. So when it is time to clean up their toys or put their pyjamas on, cut straight to the chase by starting a timer to make it more fun.
Yes, meal prepping is not just for athletes, spending time each week preparing meals and snacks in advance can save you hours in the kitchen. Saving you from feeling stressed during busy weekdays and ensuring that your family eats healthy, home-cooked meals. Tick.
Children are also very big fans of rewards, so create a chart with (age-appropriate) chores for each family member and use stickers to track their progress. It is a great way to encourage responsibility and give children a sense of accomplishment.
Use pictures or drawings to create a visual morning routine chart for your child ie. A bowl of cereal, then a toothbrush, followed by a school uniform. This can help them stay on track and become more independent in their morning routine and save you from asking them to put their shoes on forty seven times each morning.
This is a wonderful time we live in, a time when you can buy everything you need from groceries to school supplies and have it delivered to your door. You will not only save time and energy not having to drag yourself (and probably your children) down fourteen aisles to find what you need, but you are also less likely to overspend when you (or your children) are not tempted by the in-store impulse buys.
Remember every minute saved can be spent on doing things you actually ‘want to’ do as opposed to ‘need to’ do. So hopefully implementing these tips, will streamline your routine, save time and make the joy of parenting a bit more joyful.
